O’Sullivan, 32, beat underdog Dave Harold 9-3 to claim the Northern Ireland Trophy in Belfast. In doing so O’Sullivan who is nicknamed ‘The Rocket’ became the first player to win back to back ranking titles for four years.

Harold started well winning the opening frame of the match but O’Sullivan then raced into a 5 frame lead.

Harold has not won a title since winning the 1993 Asian Open, although after his successful run in Belfast moves to number 14 in the rankings.

Ronnie O’Sullivan will be attempting to win the Premier League for the fifth year in succession when the championship starts in September. O’Sullivan’s first match is against John Higgins on September 11 and will take place at the Grimsby Auditorium.

The final will take place at 7.30 on December 7. All matches will be televised by Sky.
