Neil Robertson At A Career High

Filed under: General Knowledge — admin @ 5:48 pm

When Neil Robertson beat Ding Junhui in the Final of the Grand Prix, he became the most successful player outside of the British Isles with his most recent prize money of £75,000.

As Birmingham Billiards previously reported Robertson beat Junhui 9 – 4 in the final, this was Robertsons fourth ranking tournament win.

Robertson admits “I was 10 grand in debt back home with people that I owed money to who had funded my trips to world amateur events and stuff like that.”

Robertson is on a career high as he is named third in the Provisional World Rankings.

Robertson talks of his success saying “I came to Cambridge with £500 in my pocket and the only thing was just to survive so I had enough money to come back the next year. “It’s just amazing to come through all that because I haven’t really had that much financial backing. It’s just an amazing feeling from having nothing to coming through all this”

Birmingham Billiards wishes Robertson the best of luck in his future.

Jimmy White Has Been Arrested

Filed under: General Knowledge — admin @ 5:51 pm

Snooker player Jimmy White has reportedly been arrested on suspicion of trying to get his friend, a 60 year old man from Jersey, to take the penalty points which he received for being caught speeding.

The Sunday Mirror has reported that White is thought to be on the verge of a driving ban. White was caught speeding in Prestatyn in Denbighshire and then later received a speeding ticket through the post.

The six times World Snooker Champion who is now 47 years old, is thought to have passed the points on to a friend who lives in Jersey, where the British driving endorsements do not count.

White could be charged with perverting the course of justice, however officers are currently still investigating.

Both White and his friend were questioned and have been released on police bailed until next month pending further inquiries.
