Stuart Bingham wins 2009 Paul Hunter English Open

World number 21 Stuart Bingham won the 2009 Paul Hunter English Open after successfully beating local favourite Simon Bedford 6-0 in the final which was held at the Northern Snooker Centre.

Bingham from Basildon was crowned the English Amateur Champion back in 1996 and now has added the English Open title to his list of acheievments.

In the final Bingham shot breaks of 124, 55, 62, 95 to open with a 4-0 lead.

Bingham beat Gary Wilson in the semi final to reach the final and be crowned the winner.

2009 World Games Is Won By 43 Year Old Nigel Bond

Nigel Bond has won the Gold Medal at the 2009 World Games, he beat fellow team mate David Grace.

Bond beat Grace 3-0 in the final.

Bond beat Dene O’Kane from New Zealand in the last 16, and then in the quater finals came up against IBFN World Champion Thepchaiya Un-Nooh in a very close match. Bond went on to play Mohammed Shehab from the UAE in the semi final and won.

Bond’s gold medal brought team GB’s tally of gold medals to 4. The former World ladies Snooker champion Allison Fisher also received a gold medal after beating Jasmin Ouschan 9-8 in the women’s 9 ball pool.
