The Crucible Theatre - Sheffield

John Higgins believes that snooker bosses should consider moving the World Championship from the Crucible Theatre, its historic home.

Higgins believes if the championship does move to another country they will have paid more money for it which will be good for the sport and mean that the players will earn more.

The world number one thinks that countries such as Russia, Germany, Poland and China are countries which could potentially host the championship.

No move will however take place till after 2010 when the current deal with the Sheffield venue expires.

O’Sullivan likely to escape ban

Filed under: Snooker news — admin @ 9:12 am

Ronnie O’Sullivan

Sir Rodney Walker, World Snooker chairman, has given the clearest indication that Ronnie O’Sullivan will not be banned for his indiscretions at the Honghe Industrial China Open.

O’Sullivan must face disciplinary action for lewd remarks and actions alleged to have been made in front of the local media after loosing to Marco Fu in his opening match. Sir Rodney blames this on an unfortunate lapse of concentration. Despite this incident China will welcome O’Sullivan back with open arms.

Sir Rodney believes that since the birth of his child O’Sullivan has been much more at peace with the world but we just have to accept that everyone slips up occasionally.

Every sport has its characters and O’Sullivan is that character.
